This unique tour explores a coastline shaped by the notorious westerlies, which roll in from the Southern Ocean. To the South stretches a vista of snow-capped mountains extending to Mt Cook. This tour visits the Pancakes Rocks, famous for their frothing surge pools, blowholes and sculptured sea stacks. Walk under a canopy of subtropical rain forest among majestic Nikau, giant Rimu dressed in an overcoat of Kiekie and bound with a tangle of Supplejack. Wander along a coastline of hidden beaches and coves, towering cliffs, tidal platforms and jumbled blocks, carved cliff overhangs and rock pools. Marvel at the early marine life fused forever as fossils in the sandstone seashore. At Cape Foulwind opportunities abound to see fur seals and other coastal wildlife enjoying their daily rituals. Package includes two nights accommodation, breakfast daily, fresh baking on arrival, picnic lunch and a full day guided tour of the Coastal Road – voted one of the top ten coastal drives in the world. Also includes complimentary bottle of NZ wine and homemade pizza for two on one night. Accommodation at Breakers is in one of our three luxury rooms with king or queen bed, ensuite bathroom, outdoor balcony access with seating, fantastic sea views, hot drink making facilities and wifi. Lie in bed and watch the rolling surf and be lulled to sleep by the sound of the breaking waves. Breakers is located on the Punakaiki coastline, 14kms north of Greymouth and 30kms south of Punakaiki. We have our own private track to access the beach below and 2 acres of native bush and landscaped gardens. Relax in your room or out on your balcony and make the most of the fantastic sea views with the sun setting over the Tasman Sea. Rate is $650 per person (twin share) for two nights. Rate includes 2 nights accommodation, breakfast daily, picnic lunch, and full day guided coastal road tour. Transfers available from train station at additional $30.00 per person.
